Jack Gilmartin
Physiotherapist
BSc (Hons), MCSP
Alwoodley, York
My name is Jack Gilmartin, and I’m an MSK physiotherapist at Regen Physio. I work with a broad mix of clients, from competitive athletes and regular gym-goers, to people who simply want to move more comfortably and enjoy an active lifestyle.
Coming from a background in semi-professional rugby and strength & conditioning, I know first-hand the challenges of training, performing, and managing setbacks. That experience shapes the way I work: combining hands-on treatment with practical, tailored rehab plans that are easy to follow and designed to deliver real progress.
I place a big emphasis on education and clarity, making sure clients understand their condition and feel confident in how to manage it. Rehab should feel purposeful and motivating, not a boring checklist – and I always aim to keep it engaging while focused on each person’s goals.
Outside of the clinic, I spend most of my time on the rugby pitch or in the gym, and I enjoy testing myself both physically and mentally. The same drive that fuels my sport carries into my work, where my priority is helping people return to the activities that matter most to them.
What clients say
- Fantastic sports massage and soft-tissue work
- Very knowledgeable and professional
- Removes pain and stiffness quickly
- Friendly and confidence-boosting
Reputation: superb manual therapist with excellent communication skills.
"Jack was fantastic, found straight away where I needed fixing, and also gave good advice."

What Our Patients Say
A few months ago, I couldn’t even run two miles before I visited Regen Physio in York because of a hip injury. I’m pleased to say I ran the Great North Run yesterday, feeling the strongest I’ve been in a long time. Thanks to Aaron for giving me clear, effective exercises and stretches to get me over the finish line!
Brilliant, Jack Gilmartin was a really nice guy, very easy to talk to and He went over all of my questions and worries. Left feeling less confused about my injury and looking forward to making progress.
I went to Harry with a shoulder injury, which I had been nursing for several months. He thoroughly assessed it, provided a diagnosis and started treatment immediately. Additionally he gave me detailed exercises for rehab to do at home. After several follow up appointments, I am pain free and back to doing heavier weights. Really happy with the result.
I went to Regen to get help with a torn rotator cuff, quite a bit of pain, and limited motion. Aaron’s skills and knowledge were the perfect solution, and now I don’t even think about my shoulder. The exercises prescribed by Aaron were effective immediately and from week to week I could notice the improvement despite more challenging exercises. Highly recommended!
I’ve been working with Aaron for several months to ease my frozen shoulder. I knew it would be a long recovery period, but Aaron has helped me make good progress and reduced my pain level massively using a combination of progressive physio exercises and Shockwave Therapy. Thank you.
Very thorough and efficient assessment and clear management plan. Thank you to Aaron. Sustained improvement in my condition with a follow up appointment to consolidate on progress. A happy customer!
Daniel is amazing. I went to him with a very stubborn ham string injury that refused to heal for over 3 months, and within a few sessions he'd got me fixed. His suggestion of strength training (I'm a runner) was something I'd never have thought of, but he was absolutly right. I really can't thank him enough. If you need a friendly physio who knows his stuff inside out and can perform minor miracles, he's your guy.
Harry has been such an incredible help since I developed patella tendonitis, he’s encouraged me to get back into the gym and regain my confidence. He’s helped me to fully understand my injury and how best to treat it. After only 4 sessions with Harry, my knees feel so much better and I have regained my confidence in the gym and in my own ability!
Aaron has treated both me and my son. Me for some niggles that have restricted recent efforts in the gym. He has had me back up and running in no time - I’ve seen a couple of physios and Aaron was the one that got to the heart of the matter. My son for a fractured knee - he’s engaged my son into doing the exercises at home. Throughly recommend Aaron and Regen at York.
Exactly what i needed, Aaron was great, only took one session for him to figure out what was wrong and to give me some rehab exercises for at home and to put in practice at the climbing wall. Started to make a difference that very week and I am practically fully recovered not long after.
