Aimed at relieving those ‘knots’ you often feel in your muscles, sports massage can help to relieve the tension that builds up in your body, be it from regular training or stress in the workplace. Our therapists have all completed post graduate training in sports massage therefore you won’t ever need to worry about the standard of treatment you will receive.
Sports massage can help to...
• Improve flexibility and relieve muscle soreness
• Assist in injury prevention and promote faster recovery from both training and injury
• Be used effectively pre-event, inter event, post event and during rehabilitation
As part of our sports massage sessions, we can offer instrument assisted soft tissue massage (IASTM) and cupping. IASTM is performed with ergonomically designed metal instruments that can help the therapist detect and treat fascial restrictions, areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration. Cupping is a form of therapy whereby small silicone ‘cups’ are applied to the surface of the skin providing a local area suction. Combined with movement in the area where the suction is applied, we can create a shearing effect of the tissues underneath and alter the neurological input to that area, in theory reducing pain and improving the function of the surrounding soft tissues.
Therefore, having a sports massage regularly may help to prevent injuries from occurring in the first place.
